Miss Eloise is already 5 months old and once again I find myself saying, “Where is the time going?”!
Over the last month, Eloise has met some milestones. She rolled over once, and hasn’t done it again since, mostly because she’s just so content laying down and playing and has forgotten that she can roll. She is also starting to sit up on her own, but needs more work on keeping her balance. I think once she can play sitting up, she will be a much happier camper. She is so into toys and exploring everything she sees, being able to sit up will be easier for her to do this.
I tried solid foods with her as well, and she’s not that into it yet. Her first bite of rice cereal was full of facial expressions of disgust and “Mom, what the hell is this you’re feeding me?”. I’m not in any rush to get her on solids, so I’m just feeding her a little bit everyday until she gets the hang of how to eat and learns to like the flavors and textures of real food.
At her check up, she weighed 18 pounds 12 ounces and is 26.5 inches long. Her stats put her in the 90+ percentile across the board. She is my little chunky monkey! I love how squishy she is.
Eloise is a loud baby. She goes from quiet to screaming and it takes me by surprise all the time. I always think something must be seriously wrong when I hear her scream sometimes, but it’s just how she communicates and she’s usually fine. Definitely gets my blood pressure up though!
Phoebe and Eloise are forming such a sweet sisterly bond. Eloise loves when Phoebe sings to her and will stop crying when she does. She lights up when she sees Phoebe after her naps, and Phoebe loves helping to take care of her and play with her. We’ve also started to venture into the not wanting to share toys territory. Eloise is able to grab at whatever Phoebe has, and Phoebe usually yanks whatever she is grabbing out of her hands and says, “No! That’s mine, baby sister!”. It’s cute for now, but once Eloise is able to chase Phoebe around and grab back, then we’ll have a bigger problem to address. Not looking forward to that!
We’re waiting for Eloise to start cutting some teeth! She is a drool machine and we have to keep a bib on her at all times, otherwise her outfit will be soaked in minutes. Needless to say, she loves to chew on everything and anything!
As far as sleep goes, we are in the longest sleep regression phase ever! I can remember Phoebe sleeping through the night by this point, but Eloise is up every 3-4 hours some nights and it is exhausting. She has made it a habit of waking up to nurse even though she really doesn’t need to. It’s more for comfort I think. I’m not too sure how much longer this will last, but I am ready for a night of good sleep…soon hopefully.
Eloise is still a sweet, happy, content baby. I always comment on how sweet she is. Most of the time, she is happy to sit and watch what’s going on and doesn’t need much to keep her content. I am so lucky to have such a happy baby!
I know that this upcoming month will be filled with more change, and it’s bittersweet. Bitter to watch my baby grow, and sweet because seeing her learn and do new things is just amazing.
Eloise Claire, we are so in love with you!
