Here’s my new ONE year old!
And here we are one year ago:
Eloise is such a little love.
When you have your first child, you always think that there’s no way you can possibly love another child as much as your first. The thought of having someone else that is completely different than your first child makes it even harder to think about how you’ll love this other child as much. I can honestly say, Eloise and Phoebe are two entirely different people in every way. There is really nothing they have in common besides some physical features, and I love how individual and unique they are. I’ve gotten the best of everything with them.
Eloise is such a curious, high-energy, go-with-the-flow baby. She’s content playing with everything and anything, and loves being right be her sister’s side. She’s my little adventurer, with a smile that will light up your day. Being outside and playing in dirt is her newest favorite activity, and I know once she starts walking and being able to explore more easily, she will be the happiest baby!
She is already very smart and making progress with communicating and speech. If you ask her what a cow says, she’ll give you a cheesy little smile and in a low hum say, “Mmmmm”. She also knows what a dog, snake, tiger, and monkey say! If you show her a picture of Peppa, she will say “Peppah!” and she can also say mama, dada, baba, all done, no, and bunny. I just love her little voice.
At her one year old check up, she weighed in at 23 pounds 11 ounces and is just under 31 inches tall. She’s still wearing 18 month size clothing and will soon be ready for 24 months this summer! I attribute this growth to her love of food! With Phoebe being the pickiest eater known to mankind, I am so thrilled to have a child that actually eats the food I make. She loves bold flavors and will chow down on different types of cheese, fruit, rice, and veggies. For her morning, noon, and night time routine, she loves her bottle with toddler formula and will drift off to sleep very easily with it.
Her hair is starting to grow in thicker and is now long enough so she wakes up with bedhead sometimes. Nothing is better than a happy baby smiling at you in the morning with the craziest bedhead! The back of her hair curls up sometimes, too. I think it’ll be curly once the summer humidity sets in. I know my grandma would have loved to see it, since she loved little curls on babies.
For her first birthday, I took Phoebe and Eloise to the mall to go for a carousel ride and to Build-a-Bear, so Phoebe could help Eloise make a special teddy bear to remember her first birthday by. It was a very nice day together, and Eloise just loves her new teddy. She cuddles it and holds onto it tightly. When she picked out the teddy bear at the store before it was stuffed, she cuddled the shell of it and it was just too cute.
Like I always say, it is so bittersweet to watch your babies get older. This year of Eloise has been wonderful. She gave me the chance to be a mommy all over again and I am blessed to have her as my daughter. She is so affectionate and cuddly, but so independent and free-spirited at the same time. My heart fills with joy when I think of the two wonderful girls that are all mine. I am sad to see her “baby-ness” fade away, but I love watching her turn into a toddler.
So many good, fun, and happy times are ahead!
